How SHAKO works.
This page is the operating summary for the platform: what SHAKO is, how listings, rentals, ratings, offers, and transactions work, and which parts are still being developed.
Owner-to-owner enthusiast marketplace.
SHAKO is built for enthusiast cars and the people who know them best. Owners create detailed listings covering specifications, ownership context, condition, and the information buyers actually want to understand before committing to a car.
The core model is owner to owner: buyers discover cars, review the listing, submit offers, and deal directly with the owner. SHAKO provides the marketplace, listing workflow, review process, rental tools, and reputation system rather than operating as the vehicle dealer.
Sale, rental, or both.
An approved vehicle can be listed for sale, rental, or both at the same time. A combined listing lets an owner keep the car available for paid use while remaining open to purchase offers on that exact vehicle.
This gives owners more than one way to use the same asset and gives buyers more than one way to evaluate it.
Rent the exact car you may want to buy.
For cars listed for both rental and sale, SHAKO is designed to support a longer, real-world version of a test drive. A user can discover a specific enthusiast car, rent it, experience what it is like to live with it, and then submit a purchase offer on that same car if it feels right.
A rental does not have to lead to a purchase. Users may also rent a car simply because they want access to that car for a period of time.
Owners control availability. Confirmed bookings are locked.
Rental listings include an availability calendar. Owners can block dates when the car is unavailable and reopen those owner-blocked dates later.
Once another user has booked the car for specific dates, those dates cannot simply be moved or opened by the owner. The confirmed rental must be cancelled from the account page before those dates become available again.
The account page also shows upcoming rentals for both renters and owners, along with rental history and completed-rental activity.
Reputation follows actual rental activity.
Users begin with No reviews, not a default 5.0 rating. A public rental rating only appears after the user receives their first completed-rental review.
After a completed rental, the owner and renter can rate each other from 1 to 5 stars and optionally leave a comment. Confirmed rentals cancelled by a user reduce that user's calculated rental rating by 0.25 points per cancellation, subject to the platform's rating floor and ceiling.
SHAKO also tracks review count, completed rental count, and cancellation count as separate reputation metrics.
Regular admins can view these metrics. Master Admins can make audited one-time corrections to a user's rating, review count, completed rental count, or cancellation count. Those corrections create a new baseline; future reviews, rentals, and cancellations continue changing the figures normally rather than freezing them.
Cars are reviewed before publication.
Owners submit their vehicles through a staged listing process. SHAKO reviews submissions before a vehicle is published to the marketplace or rental program.
The goal is not to turn every listing into a dealer-style advertisement. The review exists to keep the marketplace focused, improve listing quality, and make sure the information presented to users is useful and internally consistent.
Owners decide whether they want to sell.
SHAKO currently uses an offer-based purchase system. Interested buyers can submit purchase offers on eligible cars, and owners decide whether to accept, reject, or continue discussing the opportunity.
A car can remain visible on SHAKO even when the owner is not committed to selling immediately. The owner retains control over whether an offer is acceptable. A full timed-auction system may be added later.
SHAKO connects the parties rather than taking custody.
For vehicle purchases, SHAKO helps buyers and owners discover each other and agree on a transaction. SHAKO does not currently take custody of the vehicle or the vehicle purchase price.
After a sale is agreed, the buyer and seller remain responsible for payment, ownership transfer, registration, transportation, collection or delivery, insurance, inspections, and any other steps required to complete the sale unless SHAKO explicitly introduces a service that handles one of those steps.
Marketplace software is ahead of the operating layer.
SHAKO now supports rental listings, availability calendars, bookings, account management, cancellations, and rental reputation within the platform.
The final commercial structure for renter screening, insurance, payments, handover procedures, operating rules, and the legal structure for paid private-vehicle use in Japan is still being developed. These items must be finalized before SHAKO treats the rental program as a fully launched commercial rental service.
Current pricing.
SHAKO is still being built and the long-term transaction fee schedule is not final. Any buyer, seller, or rental fees will be disclosed before a paid transaction takes place.
While the platform is in its current stage, SHAKO is free to use for buyers and listing owners.

More useful than a basic classified.
SHAKO is enthusiast first: interesting cars, proper specifications, ownership history, and useful context. It connects buyers directly with the people who know the cars best, while giving owners the option to sell, rent, or do both from the same approved listing.
English and Japanese use the same platform data.
SHAKO provides English and Japanese interface versions. Switching language changes the site's navigation, labels, forms, instructions, and other SHAKO-provided interface text; it does not create a separate account, listing, booking, offer, or database record.
User-provided content such as vehicle descriptions, modifications, seller comments, and messages remains in the language entered by the user. SHAKO does not automatically machine-translate that content.
This page is intended to stay current.
Think of this page like the assumptions tab in an underwriting model. When SHAKO changes a material marketplace rule, rental rule, rating formula, transaction process, fee, or user workflow, this page should be updated so the operating assumptions shown to users remain consistent with the product.
Users remain responsible for their own decisions.
SHAKO does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, condition, legality, safety, or reliability of any vehicle, listing, user-submitted content, communication, transaction, or information provided through the platform.
Users should conduct their own due diligence before buying, selling, renting, driving, paying for, handing over, or otherwise relying on a vehicle or another user.
SHAKO is not a party to a vehicle sale between users unless explicitly stated otherwise.
